|
We have learnt from the disaster and I have taken steps to avoid the problem in the future. Nevertheless we do have some super events lined up for the rest of this year and the first half of 2012.
The Christmas Members’ Evening, 7 for 7:30 on 17th December, will be a “Do Your Own Thing”. . Please contact Betsy see committee if you would like a ticket (£8 non-members or £4 members). During the evening, we will be collecting Members’ (£7) and Patrons’ (£10) subscriptions. If anyone who is not yet a member would like to join us do please phone Betsy, you can join on the night. Members have early booking for the best seats for productions and half price entry to members’ evenings. A great deal for only £7 a year! And you will be joining a thriving dramatic society. Also please remember to book early as we had to turn some people down for tickets at our August Members’ Evening which had a full house.
The next “Play Reading for Pleasure” will be “Separate Tables” at 7:30pm on Monday 5th December 2011 in the Village Hall. See calendar
Our play in May (24th to 26th) is the famous “Separate Tables” by Terence Rattigan, directed by Julia and Doug Yule. See Our Current production
Finally. our February Members Evening (11th) we will be entertained by Mike Nicholson, one of our members, who is an accomplished professional singer. See Calendar

Chairman’s Parish Letter
I am sorry not to be able to comment about an enjoyable Autumn production. Readers will have remembered that it was unfortunately cancelled due to casting difficulties. |

“Having seen this play once before I am convinced that it is one of the most difficult productions to direct. My congratulations go to Graham Till for a first class effort. He managed to manoeuvre everyone on and off the stage apparently effortlessly with very few gaps in the dialogue. I was and still am of the opinion that this is a play for radio where ones imagination does the work but having said that, this society did an excellent job.
The dialogue is exceedingly amusing and the cast made the most of it. Their enunciation was clear despite the problem of maintaining a welsh accent. This was better from some than others but the welsh lilt was carried through exceedingly well.
The set was very cleverly designed; the sound effects good and on time and the lighting director, Mike Phillips, with his assistant Keith Woods deserve a medal for a remarkable achievement. The costumes were simple but looked right allowing for a great many fast changes. The cast were all word perfect portraying their many different characters with great imagination especially Graham Till, Fiona Pinder and Laura Pinder who sang most beautifully. The children performed well and the narrators maintained the welsh atmosphere keeping us in touch with the story which was vital as there were so many different characters popping on and off stage.
I enjoyed this production much more than I thought I would but feel it isn’t a good choice for most amateur societies. This one carried it off well. All credit to them.”
